Well, it has been a while, but read on. We area going forward with some great tours for you.
After a long winter and spring of planning we are almost ready to head out for a month of riding in the West to set new routes and refine some of the best ones we know and love.
First we will head to our home base in Evergreen Colorado to set up the bikes and recover from the drive North. I always feel better after I cross Raton Pass and get back to my old home state. Not that I don’t love Austin, I do, but it can’t compete with the West when it comes to riding—especially in the summer!
Some of us at AdventureOne were born and raised in Colorado and others like me got there as soon as we could. I have been traveling and touring in Colorado for 25 years and I still discover new places on almost every trip.
I want to save our clients the trouble of burning up an entire vacation looking for the great spots. We want to make you and your riding partners part of our circle of friends and show you all the places we love best. That’s the feeling on one of our trips—we just get out and ride, no hurry, no limits, no problems.
First on the agenda will be laying out a new road tour we were thinking about calling the “Essential Colorado Tour.” What do you think, good name or no? Anyway, we will cross at least a dozen passes, some unsurpassed twisties and a bunch of great secondary highways with light traffic—just enough to have some fun passing.
After we sort out the route, we will be looking for the finest lodging and restaurants. We are not talking about five star eateries; but we want to dine on high-quality, fresh food, way beyond your typical greasy-spoon “biker grub.” Friends don’t let friends eat bad food or drink cheap tequila—or sleep in dive motels for that matter! Which brings me the next element of our tours that separates us from the crowd, lodging. I don’t know about you, but I suspect that you don’t want to sleep—or try to sleep—by the side of the interstate with light and noise pouring into your room while some couple has a shouting match about their deteriorating relationship at 4:00 am any more than I do. That’s why we will be tracking down some comfy, out-of-the-way guest lodges where the sleeping will be sound and the service top notch—sunsets from the deck and good coffee. That’s what I’m talkin’ about!
If this is the kind of touring you would enjoy, stay in touch, and keep and eye on the touring blog section of our website for updates. We will be posting regularly-- audio blogs, pics and the rest.
Ok enough for now. We are leaving Austin on 2, July, arriving in Summit County Colorado on the third just in time to enjoy the fourth with some old friends before heading out to ride.
Until later, Oakley
